This site is a lot of things, a journal, a "blog", a collection of photos and thoughts of my travels, musings on history, philosophy, Christianity, and science, and also some technical information on Macs and PCs. Hope you find it useful and interesting! This site uses Quicktime "progressive" streaming (I'll be supporting ReadMedia and Windows Media in the near future.) Except for Quicktime technology from Apple Computer Corp., this site uses Open Source software, indicated below. Specifically, the computer hosting this site runs Red Hat Linux, Version 9.0, uses Apache as the web server, uses PHP to serve dynamic content, and stores data using a MySQL database server, all freely available, secure, very customizable, and of the highest quality. (Can you tell, I'm a little biased..). Well enough of that...

I heard a sermon a few weeks ago at Cornerstone Church in San Francisco, where I attend regularly. The sermon was about a conversation Jesus had with a certain Samaritan woman at a well during the heat of the day. She came to draw water, necessary for life, but Jesus was offering something that we all crave and most of us can never seem to find - that "living water."
We all need water to survive. We can survive without food for weeks, but without water, we can live perhaps 2 or 3 days. But how can we measure spiritual hunger and thirst. We know it's real, although many will try to deny it.
I was thinking some more about this short story this afternoon.. and I thought,
This well the woman was drawing water from is something like a symbol for our souls, we want to drink because we are thirsty, so we drink and for the moment we are satisfied, but then in a few hours, we are thirsty again. We try to find the answers in ourselves, for a while our attempt at meaning or purpose satisfies, but then we thirst again. Ultimately, we can never be satisfied because the answers aren't there in the well of our souls.
You want proof - ask yourself what gives you meaning, and how often does that answer change.
